In today’s ‘unnatural’ world, whether it’s information overload, digital distraction, or constant pressure to produce higher quality outcomes, our mental capacity can easily become overwhelmed. The result is a significantly reduced ability to make effective progress to achieve goals in our life and work.
It has therefore become more important than ever to discover novel ways to liberate our mind-space from the stresses and anxieties of modern life, and to unlock our real creative, innovative and critical thinking potential.
A natural response to dealing with such modern life demands is to build resilience. However, to make progress we must go beyond resilience and begin to regenerate in the face of unrelenting change. Indeed, we can choose to become Regenerative Leaders through both self-leadership and eco-sustainable regenerative practices within our organizations.

Regenerative Leadership is an emerging philosophy of organizational leadership promoting holistic practices in both life and work, that harmonizes with the environment.
It focuses on a partnership between people, organizations and nature to restore the environment and build a sustainable future.
To inspire the development of a Regenerative Leadership mindset, Dr Gerard Prior developed the SENSEI Regenerative Framework®
The aim is to help individuals and leaders transition more easily from the unnatural world into a more organic, natural, and environmentally sustainable approach to life and work.
The SENSEI Regenerative Framework®
A Japanese word with deep meaning, at its simplest level, sensei means teacher or mentor. In the SENSEI Regenerative Framework® the use of the term sensei, serves to highlight the importance of making the right choice of teacher with the direct translation from Japanese being ‘one who was born before’.
Therefore, learning and mentorship should not only be from those who have great knowledge, but especially those who also have deeper wisdom and experience.
By entering a nature setting for a first SENSEI Regenerative Leadership session, we position nature as a powerful sensei. Nature has always been with us, and we have much to learn from the ecosystems within nature, that can inspire and guide us on our own sustainable journey.
The SENSEI Regenerative Session in Nature
The SENSEI Regenerative Framework® has six core elements; however, the session overall is split into three sections.
The session starts with a short orientation to explain the framework and to invite participants to reattune themselves to mindfully enter the natural setting.
Next, on a short journey through the nature setting, participants can discover what being regenerative means, and they can craft nature inspired analogies to inspire change in their lives and work.

Tea Gathering
Finally, there is a tea gathering where participants can enjoy some herbal refreshments. This is when they can reflect on and discuss how to effect change in their lives and work to underpin sustained success in harmony with other people and the environment.
